January the 13th, 2026 – The Croatian coast is the second most searched region on platforms, right behind Andalusia (Spain) and just ahead of the popular French region of Ile-de-France.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, the glorious Croatian coast ranked in second place among all EU regions in terms of demand for short-term accommodation for tourists on online booking platforms in the second quarter of 2025, behind Spain’s Andalusia and just ahead of France’s Ile-de-France region, according to Eurostat data.
Andalusia was the most popular region for short-term accommodation booked via online platforms in the second quarter of 2025, with 13.3 million overnight stays recorded, while the Croatian coast was in second place with 9.6 million overnight stays, followed by the popular Ile-de-France third with nine million, according to Eurostat figures.

It is also worth noting that the 20 most popular tourist regions where accommodation for the summer of 2025 was booked via online platforms were located in only five EU countries – six regions each in Spain and France, five in Italy, two in Portugal and one in Croatia (“Adriatic”). Eurostat has recently published its data on tourism by European Union Member States for the third quarter of 2025.
A total of 398.1 million overnight stays in short-term accommodation in the EU, booked via the Airbnb, Booking or Expedia platforms, were recorded from July to the end of September. The total number of overnight stays by tourists in such accommodation throughout the third quarter of 2025 was 8.7 percent higher than in the same quarter of 2024 and 28.2 percent higher than in the same period in 2023, Eurostat points out.
Looking at the situation on a month by month basis, the largest increase in these bookings was recorded in July 2025, of 10 percent compared to the same month in 2024, while in August and September the growth was slightly lower, standing at 8 percent each. Eurostat otherwise collects data on bookings for this accommodation from monthly data on short-term accommodation offered via online platforms.
