The government approved the Annual Plan for the Implementation of the Just Transition for 2026, which continues the systematic implementation of the just energy process and economic transformation in the country, the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Mineral Resources announced.
The statement states that with the approval of the Plan, the Government and the Ministry “confirm their commitment to ensuring a just transition that will take into account the socio-economic consequences for communities and workers in the regions affected by the transition, with a particular focus on opening new opportunities for employment, retraining the workforce and promoting sustainable local economic development.”
The foreseen mechanisms ensure a coordinated approach between competent institutions and public enterprises.
“The annual plan for 2026 has been developed in accordance with the national strategic documents and the Reform Agenda, as well as with the obligations undertaken within the framework of the accelerated transition process from carbon to sustainable energy sources. The plan represents an operational document that defines the concrete activities, the timeframe, the competent institutions and the resources necessary for its implementation.
“The Ministry of Energy, Mines and Mineral Resources is obliged to publish the Annual Plan on its website and coordinate its implementation, while the line ministries and relevant institutions will prioritize activities within their annual programs, with regular reporting on progress during implementation,” the Ministry announced.
The statement notes that the Annual Just Transition Implementation Plan for 2026 “represents an important step towards a more efficient and coordinated implementation of planned reforms, strengthening the institutional framework and advancing cooperation with international partners and financial institutions.”
