Russia is to blame for the fact that the “coalition of the willing” is slowing down with security guarantees for Ukraine. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaya Kallas.

“Ukraine will need broad security guarantees after the war… The “Coalition of the Willing” was created in order to turn the plans into real protection. The leaders met in Paris to consolidate these security guarantees. A stronger Ukrainian army with the support of multinational forces and the United States,” Callas wrote on one of the social networks.

According to her, “the problem is that we do not have a ceasefire” and “at the moment there is simply nothing to control.”

“However, within the framework of the coalition of the willing, of course, we are also preparing from the European side for what we can offer … We already have a military mission to train Ukrainian servicemen, and we can expand its mandate to conduct training also on the territory of Ukraine. In addition, we have a civilian mission to assist Ukraine in reforming its defense forces… But, going back to the beginning of my answer, the main problem now is that there is no ceasefire — and, unfortunately, it is not visible on the horizon either, because Russia clearly does not want peace,” she said.

Recall, the “coalition of the willing” is a kind of association of more than 30 countries, mainly European, that allow their participation in a possible peacekeeping mission on Ukraine. France and the United Kingdom play a coordinating role in it. On January 6, the members of the “coalition” at a meeting in Paris signed a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine. In addition, Paris, London and Kiev signed an agreement on the deployment of troops on Ukrainian territory after the ceasefire. At the same time, the UK noted that it would not be sent to Ukraine of its military, if they are in danger there.
