At the initiative of the Prime Minister and leader of the OBRM-PDUKM, Hristijan Mickoski, a meeting of leaders with the chairmen of parliamentary parties that have parliamentary groups in the Assembly will be held today at the Club of Deputies.

As announced, the meeting will discuss reform laws in the field of the judiciary, the election of the Ombudsman, changes to the Electoral Code and the possibility of abolishing the caretaker government, as well as other issues proposed by the participants.

From the opposition parties, the leaders of “The Left” and DUI, Dimitar Apasiev and Ali Ahmeti, confirmed their participation. The leader of SDSM, Venko Filipçe, declined the invitation for a leaders’ meeting.

Filipce stated in a press conference on January 8 that he does not accept talks on the abolition of the caretaker government, accusing the Prime Minister of seeking “an alibi for announcing early elections.”

According to him, the caretaker government should remain as a guarantee for fair elections and a mechanism for preventing abuse of institutions. Regarding the reform laws, Filipçe emphasized that the debate should take place in the Assembly, where SDSM will support all quality solutions. He added that the party will participate in the parliamentary elections if they are announced.

In the meeting of leaders called by Mickoski, the participation of the DUI chairman, Ali Ahmeti, Bilall Kasami from VLEN, Maksim Dimitrievski from ZNAM has also been confirmed. /Telegraph/
