“It’s not just because ‘it solves the problem of foreigners’… Why the Takaichi administration has become the “strongest administration” with an approval rating of over 70%”. President magazine argues Japan wanted a truly conservative LDP again without Abe’s moderation or the influence of Komeito

  1. Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t Japanese approval rating always either high (especially right after election) or down in the gutter (right before snap election)

  2. When it comes to politics, Japan drinks a blended tea of matcha and poo. There’s no way of making sense of their politic decisions beyond an e-coli hallucination.

The super strong administration that got the yen to 185 against 1 Euro. Bravo! Please go on!!

This is due to younger people participating in the political process at a much higher rate than before, and a larger impetus to their participation is the strong right turn against foreigners and immigration. The other factor is that because as a woman she stands out from the rest of the cookie cutter politicians, and again, the younger voters feel this may lead to different policies. Given her pretty conservative views, this remains to be seen.

  5. Yen is dropping. China is about to rare earth sanction Japan. Trump is ignoring Japan.

How does Japan deal with all this winning.

OK, but what is it good for if the cost of living keeps rising, the yen keeps rising against the dollar / euro … it’s the same weird thing that’s happening elsewhere too, where people ostensibly vote to increase their quality of life but are paradoxically also open to make sacrifices based on purely “ideological” and emotional reasons without any clear payoffs … until they become affected by the consequences of their own actions, at which point it’s too late

  7. >it solves the problem of foreigners

is it really solved? or create more problem on the long run

The best time to go on a vacation to Japan was a year a ago. The second best time is now lmao.

Yen about to hit 160 Yen to 1 USD.

I cannot image what kind of economic pressure the average Japanese must be facing as the Yen just gets weaker and weaker. But hey, at least you kept those pesky foreigners out!

Delusional. Japan would rather stay poor than let one more foreigner living in Japan.

What is this BS. If the Japanese economy were booming, then yeah. Otherwise, I dont think so!

Unsurprisingly, a lot of Japanese voters place politicians in the exact same category as geinojin. Their policies are irrelevant. All that matters is their entertainment value.

This is especially true with younger voters.

I mean, sure, the situation is a lot worse in one other ostensible democracy that I shall not name, but it is what it is.
