There is a claim in the 7th century Armenian text that Meshtop Mashtotz was invited in Georgia to create an alphabet but he for sure, did not speak Georgian and this claim can not basicly be true for many other reasons. For example – the basis of Asomtavruli Alphabet is Greek Alphabet which is proven by the scholars (alphabetocal order, numerical values, geometric style and so on are similar). Basicly this claim is only text based and the linguists don’t agree with this.
This is strange. Don’t make up strange facts; that’s not how science works. If we examine your own evidence, references to the Armenian written alphabet are found in Greek works dating back to before the Common Era.
By your logic, this should confirm the creation of Georgian writing by the Armenian clergy.
Much more important are the studies of linguists who don’t confirm this fact. And we can’t make any claims without historical evidence.
Personally, I can say that I’ve always been fascinated by this topic and the attitudes of Armenians and Georgians toward it. I’m a Russian speaker, and our alphabet was developed by Greek scholars. And I donât know anyone who would be humiliated by this fact.
Most scholars link the creation of the Georgian script to the process of Christianization of Iberia, a core Georgian kingdom of Kartli. The alphabet was therefore most probably created between the conversion of Iberia under King Mirian III (326 or 337) and the Bir el Qutt inscriptions of 430, contemporaneously with the Armenian alphabet. This is the official opinion of most linguists, archaeologists and historians.
Itâs worth noting that the most reliable old Armenian texts mention nothing about Mashtots creating a Georgian alphabet. The passage in Koriun claiming this is widely considered to be a much later addition based on a significant difference in style and context from the rest of his work, and all other contemporary Armenian sources donât mention Georgian writing at all.Â
The hypothesis I like the most is that Georgian script was actually not created in Georgia, but rather by Georgian monks in Palestine, possibly inspired by the work of Mashtots in Armenia. This is one simple explanation for why Georgian text is attested in Georgia itself only centuries after a number of attestations are found in Palestine. In addition, it would seem that the creator or creators of the Georgian alphabet were much more influenced by Greek culture than Mashtots was, considering the order of the alphabet, the shape of á„, etc suggesting a possible origin in closer contact with the Byzantine empire than Iberia was at the time.Â
To be clear, writing would not have been unknown in historical Georgia at this time, considering we have ample archeological evidence of Greek and Aramaic scripts being known and used here even in the BCE (likely the justification for Leonti Mroveliâs claims about Parnavaz). But the motivation and development of a unique alphabet for the Georgian language certainly happened as a consequence of the Christianization of Kartli. The idea that Mashtotsâs work was an inspiration for this (while excluding his direct involvement) is an intriguing one, and possibly one that splits the difference between the various national accounts, but we simply donât know enough to say for sure.
The second picture is fake, and the OP is clearly a troll. : )))
