OKLAHOMA CITY (KSWO) – A legislator has filed three bills aimed at placing safeguards for the use of artificial intelligence in Oklahoma.

House Bill 3546 would bar any AI system from being granted legal personhood under state or federal law.

House Bill 3545 has more direct application at the state government level, restricting government use of AI for discriminatory classification systems, biometric surveillance, or the creation of deepfakes.

Any AI recommendations would also require thorough human review before implementation, and agencies would need to take part in an annual statewide AI report.

House Bill 3544 aims to protect young Oklahomans from AI systems like Chatbots.

If passed, it would prohibit the deployment of “social AI companions” to minors, and the use of AI Chatbots would require age certification measures.

An exception would be allowed for therapeutic AI tools, so long as they have professional oversight.
