According to the data, 269,468 passenger cars, 68,809 light goods vehicles and 3,084 heavy vehicles were produced in Portugal.

In year-on-year terms, this represented increases of 3.3% in passenger car production, 0.2% in light goods vehicle production, and 5.2% in heavy vehicle production.

ACAP’s statistical information also details that 97.8% of the vehicles produced were destined for foreign markets.

The importance of exports was highlighted by the automotive industry association, which noted that the number of units produced in 2025 “represented 129% of the number of units registered in the same year”.

Europe remained the main destination for units produced in Portuguese factories, with 88%, notably Germany (19.1%), Italy (11.7%), Turkey (10.7%), France (10.6%) and Spain (9.8%).

The African market accounted for 4.3% of exports (Morocco accounts for almost half, with 2.1%), and the American continent for 2.8%.
