On the 14th, Saitama Governor Motohiro Ohno visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and submitted a petition again calling for the temporary suspension of visa exemptions for short-term stays for Turkish nationals. Ohno had also submitted a petition to then Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya in August last year.
The prefecture continues to receive complaints from people in the southern part of the prefecture about the deterioration of public safety due to the presence of foreigners. The prefecture has once again requested action from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, saying that its response has not been sufficient.
In response to a question from reporters, Ohno said, "It is not our intention to discriminate. We would like the country to thoroughly screen people in advance by requiring them to obtain visas, just like other countries."

They should suspend visa to all foreigners if they think foreigners are the problem
I mean it would make sense that if people from a certain country can come and leave as they want and cause issue at a locale level, then you put a visa on them to regulate the flux.
But the measurement of “causing issue” simply cannot be complaints from people. You have police, you have a ministry of internal affaire, in short a lot of administration power to make sure they indeed cause issue.
Basing your thinking on “the amount of call we receive increased of 50% in the past month” makes absolutely no sense.
He knows that those deals are binational. It will also remove visa exemption for Japanese people travel to Turkey
I mean it keeps the rent low.
Yet more empty posturing. The people who caused issues in that part of Saitama are stuck in asylum limbo since the 90s, burdening the rest of us by introducing additional visas wont solve your issue. For reference, 90k Turkish tourists have visited Japan in 2025. The community he wont stfu about is barely 2k. Anyways, until he is gone, I will not visit the Dasaitama prefecture as a Turk. There are 46 other prefectures of Japan which do not wish to discriminate against us.
Wouldn’t Japan be interested in good Turkish relations considering they are the pioneers of hair loss treatment?
