The French national team confirmed their place in the second round with another impressive victory over Ukraine, winning by a 20-goal margin, 46:26, and setting a new record at the European Championships for the highest number of goals scored by one team in a single match. The most efficient players in this historic win for Les Bleus were Melvyn Richardson, Benoît Kounkoud, and Dylan Nahi with six goals each, while Dmytro Artemenko scored eight goals for Ukraine.

In the same group, Norway managed to break the resistance of a spirited Czech team after an even first half, securing a 29:25 (16:16) victory in front of their home fans in Oslo.
