I remember reading something about how the Chinese government sent troops to Tiananmen Square who were from the countryside or different regions so they wouldn’t have any connections/sympathy for the protesters. They were also fed heavy propaganda about what was happening in Beijing, being told the city was being overrun by violent people who were killing soldiers/government officials.
Unfortunately it seems really similar to where things are currently headed in the USA.

But when the federal government is invading states, violating their laws, and are kidnapping, raping and murdering the people of those states? It’s a fucking civil war.
