The vulnerabilities of Canada in the Western hemisphere are not Russia or China…but the United States themselves. China is only a small player in the Arctic and the two most important threats for Canada are Russia AND the United States.
The US is using China as, yet again, a scapegoat to distract from its own imperialistic ambitions. It has tried to turn the whole democratic world against “Red China” while it’s been the #1 destabilizing force in the world in recent years.
I would invite Canada to officially participate in the current military exercise in Greenland. I mean, the whole point is protecting the Arctic no? Doesn’t matter if the threat is Russia, China OR the United States.

Honestly I don’t see any issue with the content of the article. So in private Trump is saying he doesn’t want Canada, doesn’t want to annex it, purchase it or station troops at Canada’s northern borders. He just wants Canada to put more focus on securing the Arctic while coming to an agreement with them about how we are going to do it ourselves.
I don’t know how but it really feels like we’re coming out of this whole thing relatively unscathed. Carney is working some magic behind the scenes with Trump and I know Trump likes him. I’ve got to wonder what Carney and Trump have spoken about in private and if we’ve secretly agreed to work to with them on some of their goals. Seems like we’re in the best position we can be all things considered.

Russia needs the US to attack us because they are too weak to do it themselves. China doesn’t care, and we are back on friendly terms with them again since we broke up with our abusive boyfriend.

The article title is misleading.
Having said this, I have no doubt that Canada is on his mind. Despite the chest thumping of Americans, we are geographically significant to anything USA, in terms of defence etc. We must be considered.
At issue is HOW we deal with it. And time will tell.

He needs a war for two reasons; to deflect attention from the fact he’s in contempt of Congress over the Epstein file releases, and he’s said multiple times he wants to skip mid terms and elections in general – and the best way to do that is declaring war

This is just a “leak” meant to intimidate Canada
It’s no accident this was reported shortly after Canada made strides with China. NBC either fell for it themselves, or are complicit in the strategy…
