The decision would have hardly been a surprise to Ford. I’m sure Carney gave him a heads up. Pretty sure Carney was also perfectly aware that Ford would have to play the crowd.

49k EVs is just a drop in the bucket over the 1million+ cars sold in Canada each year.
Affordable autonomous EVs are the future, our auto industry had a decade to come up with something but keep falling short.
It’s time to wake up and stop being some 3rd world tech hellhole.

I don’t get how Doug is OK with Teslas entering the market but this crosses the line?

What kills me in this discussion is that neither Ford or GM have an affordable gas car/sedan in this space, nevermind an EV. If it was a competing product to something already being assembled here then that might be something we can talk about. Kia, Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, VW, etc… these are the manufacturers that are going to be competing in this space. When they release an SUV or pick-up truck then maybe they have an argument but ya… Both Ford and GM have all but abandoned the car/sedan/hatchback market.

Ford needs to focus on the core issue rather than getting sound bites.
This is all due to Trump and the people advising him. Where is Fords outrage at the big 3 auto-makers who aren’t standing up for Ontario auto plants?
Ford and his big yap has set Carney and the feds a step back. Between the tariff commercial, threats to cut electricity off, pouring out Crown Royal, it’s clear Mr Team Canada is only looking out for Ontario.

Ford wants more cars in downtown Toronto. Old fashioned smoke spewing cars like the good old days to make it a real city.

It’s hilarious that Carney ignored Doug Ford, who was his biggest supporter during the election campaign. Ford has to ban Chinese alcohol from the LCBO to retaliate against Chinese EV’s.

Speaking from the city of Toronto, it’s pretty rich to hear Doug complain about higher levels of government doing things you don’t like. Sucks when the shoe’s on the other foot, eh buddy?

These will cut into American EV sales and will have little effect on Canadian built cars. If they start luring people out of ICE cars, then we can incentivize adding more Canadian parts and bringing some production here.
We could not just abandon Atlantic Canadian fisheries and Western Canadian farmers
