Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II is avoiding holding a meeting of bishops of the Armenian Church in Armenia, APA reports, citing Armenian media.
According to the information, the meeting of bishops will be held outside of Armenia, not in the religious center of Echmiadzin.
It is reported that the reason for this decision is the fear that the Catholicos may lose his position that day.
Sources in the Armenian Church say that this decision was made taking into account the government’s campaign against the church and its consequences.
