As we head into a new year, it’s time once again to start taking the temperature on how people rank the best of the best across the United States. It’s also a moment for businesses and attractions to see if the changes and improvements they made over the past year actually paid off.

Each year, USA Today releases its popular 10Best lists, ranking everything from bed and breakfasts to amusement parks. This time, the spotlight is on the best science museums in America.

One of Discovery World’s standout features is its freshwater aquarium, highlighted by the 85,000 gallon Lake Michigan Tank. The exhibit showcases native Great Lakes species, offering visitors a close-up look at the aquatic life.

A Museum Built to Be Touched

Opened in 2006, Discovery World intentionally avoids the traditional museum setup filled with glass cases and “do not touch” signs. Instead, the focus is on interactivity. Visitors can explore flight simulators, robotics, automation, physics demonstrations, and a massive model railroad exhibit.

The museum is also home to the Les Paul House of Sound, an interactive space dedicated to how music is created. Guests can learn how sound waves, frequency, and vibration work together, a fitting tribute to the legendary musician who was born in Wisconsin.

How to Vote For Wisconsin

Voting is now open to help this Wisconsin icon crack the final top 10. Fans have until Monday, February 9, to cast their votes. The final rankings will be announced on Wednesday, February 18. For Midwest science fans, this is a chance to give Discovery World some well-earned national bragging rights.
