Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni met Algeria’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sofiane Chaib during his visit to Greece for the third meeting of the Greece-Algeria Joint Interministerial Committee, held in Athens on Monday and Tuesday.
According to an announcement, Chaib informed Kefalogianni of the intention of Algeria’s Tourism and Craftsmanship Minister to invite Greece to participate as guest of honor at the International Tourism and Travel Exhibition (SITEV) in 2026.
He also referred to the dynamic growth of tourism in Algeria. Kefalogianni presented Greece’s strategy for diversifying its tourism product and opening up to new markets through the development of special forms of tourism aimed at strengthening the country’s international position.
She also outlined initiatives for the digital transformation of the tourism ecosystem, including the development of digital platforms, with the aim of achieving balanced tourism growth and addressing contemporary challenges such as climate change and the preservation of cultural heritage.
