  1. Kind of curious to see if Japan will pay the $1 billion fee to join.

France refused and was threatened by trump with 200% tariffs on their wine.

  2. Knowing Trump, soon it’ll be “pay up and join the board or else the trade agreement is off”. He is vile.

Haha Japan will suck it up and hope US keeps occupying it. Little does it know when US does a deal with its neighbour it’ll throw Japan under the boss and thank it for its $1 billion. But Japanese are easy to trick. Look at Plaza Accord

Japan and China need to reconcile with each other. The US is such an unstable, unpredictable and dangerous country to the world right now.
MAGA is going to extort and reneg on any deals and agreements with Japan, that will only favor the US. Having China as a trade partner is just safer and easier right now.

Japan and Italy have joined the Axis Powers for the second time in 80 years. I live every day with a gloomy feeling that this time they will be forced to completely give up their sovereignty.

Politics is becoming very transparent these days. I remember when politics used to be like chess. These days, it’s more like highschool lunchroom politics. Trump is looking for the easy assist, and it’s insulting to Japan. Now they’re in a tough position. Does Japan reinforce its alliance with the US and by proxy, Israel, as a growing fascist regime, and potentially making the same mistake they did in WW2 in their choice of partner, or do they now uncharacteristically deny support, drawing the ire of Trump and potentially leaving them without a protector in the region, accelerating the need to remilitarise? Tough spot to be in, and it shows, since they have already shown their hand by expressing amicable sentiment to Taiwan and South Korea, the only realistic contingency they have in the region.

  7. Takaichi has proven to be a fan girl, whether that’s a strategic charade matters not; Japan often behaves like a vassal state of the US, almost guaranteed she’ll fold on this.

I’m from Singapore and the Board of Peace trojan horse is being offered here too.

I don’t know if putting in a billion dollars for membership in something that won’t last very long beyond Trump’s second term is a worthwhile investment.
