  1. What’d be the point in sticking around to talk to Trump? Nothing good ever comes of it.

They have a cabinet retreat tomorrow and Friday, and I don’t even want to imagine how tired Anand and Carney have to be at this point, with over a week of travel and high-intensity meetings.

I think Macron left too, or at the very least said he wouldn’t be talking to Trump. Which, can’t blame him after he tried to be diplomatic and Trump just leaked his texts.

Feels like it shows the appeasement strategy from all these world leaders is dead (Carney wasn’t appeasing as much as the Euros, but just a blanket statement) and we’re **finally** moving to taking the kid gloves off.

  3. Between that and his speech he’s sending a clear message about where his priorities are. He’s not going to poke the bear that is Trump but he’s not going to waste time rattling his keys for the toddler either.

I wasn’t sure it would work, but it seems giving a speech with too many big words that doesn’t mention Trump by name is enough to fly under his radar.

  4. Trump is speaking now. It is surreal and disturbing. He is “friendly” with Carney’s now, but he is going to turn on him soon. It’s hard to imagine how he couldn’t. Carney has no reason to be there now.

  5. There is zero benifit for Carney meeting with Dementia Don. He can get him to agree to something today and tomorrow he will say he didnt.

Trump not a big fan of speech it seems, just said Canada only breathes because of US and Mark should think about that…..can’t believe I have to watch this orange buffoon speak.

  7. The juxtaposition of Carney vs trump is absolutely insane.

It’s absurd anyone should have to placate a man throwing around threats of invasion but the US simply refuses to abide by its own laws.

Trump said in one breath that they don’t want to defend leased land (ref to Greenland) they’ll be able to defend it only if they owned and for building the dome.

In very next breath, Trump gave example of how they helped build dome for Israel (which US doesn’t own)

So if they didn’t have to own Israel to build the dome & defend it, why same dome/defense needs ownership for Greenland!

  9. Trump: “Canada gets a lot of freebies from us. They should be grateful but they’re not. He watched your prime minister yesterday. He wasn’t so grateful. But they should be grateful to us. Canada. Canada lives because of the United States. Remember that, Mark, next time you make your statements”

lmao thanks to seven seasons of the Sopranos, Goodfellows, and fifty years of mob movies all the boomers and Gen X love their mobster president and thinks this is masculine

  10. There was an expectation on Carney or anyone else to meet Trump before leaving?
Also, wasn’t Trump delayed due to his aurplane issues?

  11. He doesn’t need to meet Trump at Davos. The US is at our door step. Makes more sense to use your time to mingle with every world leader, other than Trump.

  12. The highest of high SNUB!! Yes, we’ll most likely pay for it, but it still feels great to have someone in the room that has a LEVEL head! Couldn’t be more proud of PM Carney🇨🇦

In my humble opinion, Canada needs to accelerate all national projects… Churchill port, Railways, Pipelines… and nuclear capabilities. If this requires emergency act then we must consider it. Also we should separate our military functions and have private capabilities excluded from US disclosure. There MUST BE consequences for US aggression and the current narrative that we live because of them!
