Kosovo is ranked 13th in the world and first in the Western Balkans for resilience to security threats, according to the report of the European Parliamentary Research Service (EPRS) of the European Parliament. This result positions Kosovo ahead of other countries in the region in this indicator and shows a higher level of sustainability compared to the regional context.
The strengthening of democratic institutions, close cooperation with international security partners, as well as active engagement in the prevention of extremism and the preservation of constitutional order, despite ongoing political and security challenges, especially in relation to regional tensions, present elements that help to understand this positioning.
The high ranking in this global index positions Kosovo as one of the countries most resistant to security threats at the international level, proving that it is no longer perceived only as a fragile country, emerging from war, but as an actor with growing capacities for peace, stability and security. This achievement also represents a positive signal for the European integration process, as security and stability are key elements in the European Union’s assessments of aspiring countries.
