I’m very happy to see that USA is taking the issue of space junk seriously.
Do we have an idea why that satelite didnt deorbit itself?
Eventually there should be some kind of international organization which created incentives to deorbit defunct satellites and clean up space debris. With launch prices dropping there is no better time to develop the technology and start building out the infrastructure, it would be a shame to wait until solving the problem is much harder.
