South Korea’s benchmark index topped the five-thousand level for the first time during Thursday trading.
The Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) rose 42-point-60 points, or zero-point-87 percent, on Thursday to close at four-thousand-952-point-53.
The closing index comes after the KOSPI had reached an all-time intraday high of five-thousand-19-point-54 points at 9:30 a.m.
Shares narrowed gains later amid profit taking, closing below the five-thousand level.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ climbed 19-point-06 points, or two percent, to close at 970-point-35.
The South Korean won strengthened against the U.S. dollar by one-point-four won, trading at one-thousand-469-point-nine won as of 3:30 p.m.
