Austria Provides 3 Million Euros in Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine

As reported on the website of the Austrian MFA

Austria allocates an additional €3 million to support the population of Ukraine amid Russia’s attacks on the country’s energy and critical infrastructure.

According to the website of the Austrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the funds are directed as part of humanitarian aid to Ukraine to mitigate the humanitarian consequences of winter.

“By waging war with particularly brutal methods, Russia deliberately attacks Ukraine’s vital energy infrastructure, which at these winter temperatures has catastrophic humanitarian consequences. Austria does not abandon people in Ukraine to their fate and, with its new aid, makes an important contribution to alleviating the suffering of civilians. Right now, rapid and effective humanitarian assistance on the ground is crucial.”

Details of funding and allocation of funds

The funding will be distributed equally among the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

Going forward, these organizations will be responsible for providing winter temporary shelters, repairing and maintaining heating systems, and supplying generators and fuel to mitigate the consequences of damage to the energy infrastructure.
