“Soft-ban” is the key term here. It’s basically rage-bait based marketing scheme that’s already put this establishment on the map

  2. “Explicitly soft-bans” feels like an oxymoron.

I agree with the opinion in the article that this could’ve been communicated better without an explicit “ban.” People can generally tell whether they’ll like a place based on menus, decor, crowd, etc.

seems like a solution to a problem that didn’t exist.

Or do people really go into a lively place and complain it’s too lively?

Should’ve had the cutoff age be 49 or below if you wanted to appease to a younger crowd. 40+ isn’t old unless you’re a child or adolescent. A majority are still millennials/young adults associated with youth culture.

  4. Oh dear… How long until music venues etc follow suit? This was something I hated about living in Korea. You’d try and get into a bar or music venue and be told, after looking at your id, no you’re too old. In that case, over 30s were often banned. They also had a lot of Korean only clubs and bars.

How will they even know if someone is too old? I’m nearing 40 but most people assume I’m in my early 20s
