Democrats are campaigning as if the 2026 election will be fair. That’s a mistake

Trump and Elon did cheat last election. Kamala got zero vote in Rockland County NY.

They will do it again, especially now that Trump has control of our country.

  2. They appear to be hopeless and leaderless. Never learning. Never taking shit seriously. E.g. now the Dems have decided extend the funding for ICE with taxpayer schekels.

  3. 2026 will not be a normal election. The gerrymandering of districts that kicked off at Trump’s request shows that he will stop at nothing to prevent a favorable outcome for himself. There are many more levers that he is going to pull.

He doesn’t want to be investigated, doesn’t want oversight and oh, doesn’t want the Epstein Files to continue to be released. So if the Democrats don’t think he won’t put his thumbs on the scales, then they’re fighting with one arm tied behind their back.

He just tried and failed to start ww3 with America’s former allies. Take a hint from Europe – stand up and take this perverted cabal down, before some external entity does, with all the fireworks & carnage that will ensue.

  5. Thankfully Donald Trump is doing everything in his power to prevent authentic Republican votes and make cheating as obvious as it can be when time comes.

Interesting to see the effort to disenfranchise dem voters is already in full swing

Articles like a this are a clear example of anti dem propaganda

  7. My poor American friends, your system has been corrupted for decades by money, so stop arguing.

Your rich corporations have made it so all of this hope of there being a party of “change” or a party devoted to “justice” or “following the constitution” is nothing but theater.

You are asking for can’t be. You are asking those who built theater set facades to come make you real and solid buildings.

    They don’t know how.

  8. It’s not a “mistake”. The Dem leadership has the same donors as Trump — for example, Jeff Bezos personally intervened to block the Washington Post nomination of Harris and donated to Trump’s inauguration and sat in the front row…and so did all the other tech oligarchs. Silicon Valley is a major donor to Dem leadership, and they switched to backing Trump and fascism this time around.

So all the Dems are doing is what he Dems have always done: serve their donors. It just so happens that their donors now support fascism, so serving them means facilitating fascism.

And *opposing* fascism would require the Dems to do what they’ve never done before: break with their donors. So nobody should be expecting it. The Dems didn’t break with their donors to break up the banks following 2008. They didn’t break with their donors to support Medicare for All even though everyone wants it and there was a global plague that gave them the perfect opportunity. So why would people expect that they will break with their donors to oppose fascism?

The Dems and Republicans don’t do the same things, but the things they do are each in service of the same goal: win the game for their donors aka Team Fascism. So just like a running back does different things than a defensive lineman but both try to win the game for their team, so too do Dems and Republicans do different things to ultimately make the same donors happy.

And for the Dems at this time, that means collecting and then neutralizing opposition to Trump. Dems want everyone who is pissed off about what Trump is doing to channel that into the Democrat party, and then make sure nothing happens as a result. They don’t want people directly opposing ICE agents in the streets — they want people to donate to the party, call their reps, and patiently wait for an election that may never happen in the hopes that the people they elect will vote to change something…even though we just saw Dem leadership ensure ICE funding by allowing enough Dems to vote for it to ensure it passes (the fact that the leadership is less mad at the 7 Dems who “broke with leadership” than they are with Mamdani or Sanders or anyone who actually tries to make good on Dem rhetoric gives the game away).

The Dems aren’t making “mistakes” — people are just reluctant to be admit what they’re actually doing: supporting fascism by alternate means in order to make their fascism loving donors happy.

The pieces says WE MUST FIGHT and is long on fear-mongering, and short on the HOW the fight must happen.

This seems like a case of people staring at Project 2025 too long and becoming mesmerized by it.

As for candidates, campaigning with the expectation that we can still do voting right (it is run by the states not the Feds) is exactly what they should be doing.

Unprecedented overreach is being met by the most passive opposition imaginable. Very disappointing.

  11. 2024 wasn’t fair either. Manchin and Sinema made sure not to vote for cloture to pass the expanded Voting Rights Act into law, right-wing groups managed to help kick 4.5 million people off the ballot especially in swing states using literal Excel sheets sometimes, vigilante challenges led to people losing the right to vote, and threats were called in to polling places in Detroit and Atlanta. Not to mention all the bullshit Ken Paxton pulled.

  12. I think its pretty evident nearly everything the democrats have done for the past decade has been a mistake. Why change now?

  13. Serious_Bee_2013 on

I’m pretty sure the elections won’t even take place, at least not in blue states.

  14. Congress will quietly pass the SAVE act, probably in the middle of the night, just before the midterms. Women will show up to vote and be turned away if their id does not match your birth certificate. Married women, who took their spouses last name, will find that they are no longer eligible to vote. It will be ruled unconstitutional, but the damage to the electorate will be done.

  15. Honestly everything about how the Dems are handling this administration is probably stupid. They once again expect to be gifted a win cause Trump is a fascist.

So once again, republicans will win

  16. We should absolutely be preparing for it to be unfair.

We should absolutely still go out to vote and in large numbers.

Do not let them win “legitimately” because you’ve decided it won’t matter. If they didn’t care about midterms they wouldn’t be freaking out about it. There is no logistical way for them to stop it. I’m not talking legal. Logistically impossible. They can only use suppression tactics and they can’t do that for all 7000ish elections.

  17. Democrats have spent the last year acting like everything is normal and fair, despite the clear and obvious facts. They’re not going to change unless their leadership changes.

  18. If you want to see how republican campaigns are going to be run this year look at Minnesota. I fear thay we will be occupied through midterms. A lot of state level Dema have turned campaigns into MA and are asking people to help theor community instead of giving them money

I don’t think they are campaigning at all to be honest. My state home is probably going to have vivek as the governor and Marcy Kaptur who is one of the longest serving women in congress get removed by an Ice agent.

  20. Campaigning that it’s unfair is also a mistake. We need a lot of people that don’t typically show up to elections to show up this time, and telling them that their vote might not matter is not really a strong way to say that.

  21. solitudeisdiss on

I just wouldn’t stoop down to the other side’s level of lying and misinformation. That would be an even bigger mistake. I think they should make themselves more relatable and normal? Like not trying to “ go viral” or be all cool hello fellow kids let me tell you about my plans while streaming on twitch!

  22. How should one campaign in that situation? The article makes it seem like spending any effort on it at all is a waste.

He’s not tearing down the White House to build a ballroom to be voted out or impeached. He will not leave quietly.

  24. I’m glad they’ve atleast got one thing going for them. Newsom. The ace in the hole. He’s already largely unpopular with almost negative cross over and republican news media has a solid 10 years of stacked up complaints, lies and talking points that they’ve already been priming for use that half the country already believes.

Its almost as genius as running biden again to steam roll all the new faces with big ideas in the dem primaries.

  25. Galactic-Guardian404 on

I’ve been warning about this for months. Republicans don’t play fare and will do everything they can to rig the election. The US is literally built on the principle that taxation without representation is tyranny, so be prepared to set your federal withholding to zero at the start of 2027 if they rig the election and not file taxes again until after the 2028 election, or longer if necessary.

DHS and ice, we’ll be at the polling stations in every county. In state, in the country to verify voting rights
