Why are Polish politicians such massive cowards? Why won’t they call out Trump directly?

  1. “Despite pushing back on remarks over allies’ role in Afghanistan, Polish leadership avoids naming US president”

Between not calling Trump out over Greenland and this, it’s embarrassing how weak Poland is. The US has them on a very short leash.

  2. Unfortunetley Poland is still reliant on US for defence and that will be the case until there’ll be a viable alternative in the form of European Army.
As leftist sometimes say morality has a cost and is sometimes a priviledge. I think sadly in this situation we do not have a priviledge of having a spine.

  3. KKK on the picture (Krzysztof Kosiniak Kamysz)… or Polish Baser al Assad due to striking resemblance (he is also a doctor)

PSL, Farmers party used to be a party of compromise. They were in the government regardless the victor of the elections.

Anyhow, hesitance in criticism is indeed kind of irrational, however it makes sense at the same time.

We are kind off in a good position. Government criticizes Trump and stands behind the EU.

President endorses Trump, and approves everything he does. Simultaneously, there is a very vocal disagreement between Polish gov and president.

We just have to wait for this shit to pass.

  4. They should put together a coalition with all of Europe and more. Then stand up all together. America has no will to go to war against Europe. Europe together could also do major economic damage to America.

Why should they? In such a sensitive geopolitical place is not smart to antagonize both deranged Russia and deranged US at same time, and doing it because of Greenland is even below not smart.

Knowing how and when to pick your fights is a quality.

Most likely it’s because there is war on our border that kills apx 40k human beings monthly. That changes the perspective

What’s in it for us to get involved? A pat on the back from Reddit libs? This Greenland fiasco is already blowing over anyway.

OP, would you like to lay out your level of geopolitical understanding and we can meet you at your station?

It would also be useful to know if you’re a Polish national or not? I, myself, am not.

It is easy to play the strong man on the internet when in the end other people have to die because of your words.

  10. And what would Poland get from it?

EDIT: Oh this is about american comments about polish role in afghanistan. I do actually think politicians should react a little stronger to this since it directly involves us

Approximately 70% of our most critical defence systems against a potential Russian invasion are manufactured in the United States. All technical support and spare parts, whether or not delivered, are decided in Washington. They can render our defence ineffective simply by delaying updates…

So Poland and the entire eastern flank are essentially Washington’s hostages.

We cannot openly oppose them, but we can, and do, demonstrate that things can change. Sending German troops to Greenland with a Polish charter served as a signal that Poland will support Europe if things go bad.

When/if a common European army is created, when/if European Federation is created, we can say f* off to the US.

  12. There’s no such a thing as an EU Army yet – I hope there will be; we really need it; US is by far the most powerful country in the world – you only poke the bear if you can actually deal with it, otherwise you’re an idiot

  13. With what’s going on behind the border and the fact that we’re not strong enough to deter or stop Russia by ourselves, we need to play it safe.

USA is the only strong global power on “our side”.

  14. Like others said, poland is in a position where it would be more harm than good to cut away. Poland is not fully independent yet. That being said, I believe poland should be like Canada and start collaborative efforts with China as China is at least pro stability and intellectualism.

  15. After decades of bending down and spreading your cheeks its that much more difficult to straighten up and grow a spine in place of that gaping void..

  16. I think they’re trying to hit two birds with one stones WKK and Nawrocki is best mates with the US. Tusk deals with EU. Sikorski both.

It’s a legit strat and so far it’s working. Once we’ll have a bigger army we’ll be able to say fuck off in most of the cases.

Please note that we’re not the only ones and we’re not completely kneeling cause we didn’t join Trumps latest invention.

Polish politicians are like tightrope walkers, balancing between the need for strength and the fear of losing support, especially with the US safety net under them.

I dare say Canada has a much more integrated relationship with the US and more to lose than Poland by criticizing Trump, yet Carney didn’t mince words this week in Davos. I don’t understand how one could be against Putin, yet in support of Trump. They wave a different flag, but their methods are eerily similar.

they’re larpers basically 😛 The polish government has always loved America and wanted to be more like it wanted to be close to it etc.

  20. Same reason no one else is calling them out. USA IS scary, it’s why Europe is rearming, it’s why France is one of the few nations being vocal, they have an independent nuclear deterrent.

  21. For me, it’s quite simple: Polish political scene is too polarized to form a coherent and unified national strategy.

We’ve got a situation where each political side cannot agree with another, because that would be equal to admitting a fault and surrendering to the opponent.

We’re not a single nation that might have different ideas on reaching a common goal. We’re a broken nation that believes that the other side of the political spectrum is actively working with an enemy to harm our country.

This prevents any meaningful discourse on Polish situation. This also means that politicians might prefer status quo (no matter how unreliable) over change. Change will always be met with more critique than the status quo.

I see this as a great tragedy and a big part is played by online bots – a fight we’re losing. Unfortunately as a small cog in the machine, I’m powerless to change it.

I wonder if that’s what Poland before WW2 was like; holding onto a hope of allies helping us, instead of daring to dream bigger and trying to make that dream a reality.

Europe is strong enough to defend our borders form Russia. From the US on the other hand…time to get real.

  23. Cowards? They are smarter than you think. Politics isn’t black and white. Poland can’t burn any bridges.

  24. Antique_Ad1518 on

They are on the front line with Russia. No need to alienate Trump, no matter what a douche bag he is.

Because ukraine, and because that’s polish politrics. “Ręka rękę myje”
They are not politicians, they are sprzedajne tchórzliwe kurwy.
