Measures to ensure reliable protection of the state border and combat the illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors are being successfully continued, APA reports, citing the Press Center of the State Border Service.
It was noted that on January 18, in the service area of the “Horadiz” border detachment of the Border Troops Command, an attempt to smuggle narcotic drugs from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was prevented.
As a result of comprehensive operational and investigative measures carried out jointly by employees of the State Border Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the UAV that had illegally entered Azerbaijan’s airspace was detected in time and neutralized.
During an inspection of the scene, a total of 6 kilograms and 600 grams of the narcotic substance marijuana was seized.
Operational and investigative measures are ongoing in connection with the incident.
