In recent days, electricity, heat and water supplies have collapsed in large parts of Ukraine, and thousands of high-rise buildings and residential complexes are currently without heating. In addition, the current winter is one of the hardest since the war of aggression began.

In Kiev there are power outages that last for hours and the energy supply has almost completely come to a standstill. In many parts of the city, electricity is only available for a few hours each day. The population therefore relies on emergency shelters to warm themselves up, fetch water or charge mobile phones. A regular everyday life is hardly possible under these circumstances.

At temperatures down to minus 20 degrees this means “cold, uncertainty and darkness". Children and older people are particularly affected.
