Six local songs have been included in the shortlist to represent Ireland in this year’s Pan Celtic Song Contest.
The entries, which are all As Gaeilge, have now been whittled down to the final 15.
The live final will be held later tonight (Saturday) at the Visual in the G.B. Shaw Theatre.
Glór Cheatharlach’s Emma Ní Bhriain says the entries help improve the use of the Irish language.
“In terms of the song contest, it’s incredible to see the number of newly composed songs that came in and were entered into the competition, all through the Irish language, all different styles, all different ages.” she said/
“So it really kind of reaches across a really wide variety of musicians, of songwriters, and I suppose it promotes the language in a fantastic way.” she added.
