Hi! I am planning a trip around Senja, Langoya, and Andoya in July with 4 people. We’re planning to do a hybrid approach- two people in a tent, two people in a campervan. After looking into the companies in Tromsø for campervan rentals, I’m disappointed to see quite a few poor reviews regarding old vehicles or vehicle issues, so I’m hesitant to move forward with a rental. Considering other options, I’m wondering if anyone knows of any individuals renting out campervans? In the USA we have platforms like Turo. I looked on getaround.no but I didn’t find any campervans, just vans. If anyone has alternative ideas for reliable and well maintained vehicles, do let me know.

I am afraid I do not have a lot of experience with renting campervans or anything of the like. Though I do recommend maybe checking out multiple trans norwegian rental companies as they might have more standard products. However if you are expecting luxury, I am afraid that is not a primary concern of Norwegian rental services in general. However if you wish to experience more well equiped campingspots or (campingplasser) I would recommend south-eastern Norway especially ones in what we call “Solkysten” or the sun coast. I will not claim the beauty that Northern Norway can provide though. No dramatic mountains or fjords in the same capacity. “Worst case” I would personally reccomend just renting a rental car, buying two tents (or one big one) and travilling that way, and renting a cabin or two when you feel like it 🙂
