In Vilnius, the wives of the presidents of Ukraine and Lithuania – Olena Zelenska and Diana Nausėdienė – took part in a meeting during which they discussed humanitarian cooperation and ways to support the Ukrainian people.
Zelenska shared the event on her Facebook page.
Humanitarian Cooperation and the First Ladies’ Involvement in the Meeting
From the first days of Russia’s full-scale invasion, the Lithuanian people stood in defense of Ukraine’s freedom as their own. There was no issue on which the Lithuanian side did not express clear and unwavering support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. This support has always been timely, resolute, and multifaceted – military, financial, and humanitarian – in Ukraine’s most challenging moments
– Olena Zelenska
According to her, her colleague, Lithuania’s First Lady Diana Nausėdienė, is equally steadfast in supporting Ukraine.
Today, visiting Lithuania, I am glad for this new opportunity to talk and to express gratitude. Mrs. Nausėdienė joined Ukraine’s events at the UN General Assembly in September in New York, notably was a speaker at the Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. The First Lady of Lithuania has also patronized the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Vilnius for almost four years – a true home for thousands of Ukrainians and their initiatives. Today we will visit it together
– Olena Zelenska
Over the years of the First Ladies’ and Gentlemen’s Summit, we have managed to draw attention to pressing international topics: war and safety of children, resilience, mental health. On the topic of education, which we started last year, we have engaged teachers from various countries. Lithuania was represented by the well-known teacher Antanas Jonušas, who now tells his students about Ukraine
– Olena Zelenska
We continue to talk with the world about important topics and together seek the best solutions for the well-being and safety of people
– Olena Zelenska
During the meeting, they also discussed support for the Ukrainian energy system and military cooperation.
