As they should be. Culling wildlife for being wild is fucking outrageous.

Seems like this everywhere in the world. Some ignorant tourist get’s their ass killed in an environment that’s too dangerous for humans. And those in charge decision is always to kill the wildlife that may or may not be involved.

There’s 300 dingoes on Fraser Island. Unfettered growth of the population will eventually demand a cull anyway as they compete for finite food sources. Culling a pack of 10 now is just making space for the next 10. The AVERAGE number in a litter is 5 pups. Won’t take long to replenish their numbers.

Is this how the Tassie Tiger got extinct back in the day? Someone got bitten, and hunting became free for all.

I thought I read her death was found to be due to drowning and the dingo bites were after the fact?

I’m confused, didn’t the autopsy confirm that the dingoes did not appear to be the reason for her death?

I don’t understand why we do this. Just don’t go into these areas, or suffer the potential consequences

Lots of angry people in the comments, but this is understandable. Wild animals that have attacked humans are incredibly dangerous. They are more likely to intentionally do it again rather than just opportunistically.
It’s a tragic situation that shouldn’t need to happen, but if K’gari’s dingoes become a population of maneaters, many more in the future could die.
