It is difficult to follow Yle when they mix (on purpose?) everything.
They talk about the fact that “Finland was falling behind other nations in the race to attract global talent” and quote the 50000+ but out of that total number, les than half (they link to their own article about it) are work related, and even in that half the portion of specialists has decreased, so even if I agree that some other than specialist might be considered talents (especially related to healthcare) the broad application of the word talent doesn’t rarely follow my definition, and I would like them be more precise (honest?).

I’m not sure what the headline is trying to imply? That there’s a significant correlation between birth rate and immigration? If anything I thought Finnish immigrants had a higher birth rate than native Finns.
The article lists numbers, but doesn’t really interpret them in any way that’s telling. The bottom line is we’re still having less kids per year than we need to sustain our economy. Maybe governmental/budgetary changes to make having a family more financially viable would be more useful than tying it to fraction of changes as it relates to immigration.

Finland sees drop in immigration because it’s becoming more hostile to immigrants (legislation) and the unemployment rates are too high for immigrants who have better options.

What do you mean? Immigration still is big sociopolitical topic. In 2025, immigration still was the third biggest. Suddenly we shouldn’t care about immigration because it dropped compared to previous year? 52 % of arabic speakers received basic social assistance in 2024. That is huge problem for economy.
Even the aliens have seen that Finland is a shitty place to be in due to taxes and forcing ppl to work.

As an immigrant myself who became unemployed recently due to my company closing after bankruptcy, im leaving Finland in 4 months. High unemployment, hostile laws towards immigrants, blaming immigrants for literally everything wrong in this country, hostile atmosphere, low salaries-expensive life, no opportunity, no sunlight so, there is absolutely nothing that can hold me here. So of course immigration will drop, and it will drop even more in the upcoming months and years. I also believe even more people will move out of Finland.
