Well, Trump got his wish. Europe will pivot away from US dependence as he wanted it to be. But that also mean US will have no say either. 😛

As an American, good. The US has capitalized on pushing military hardware for so long to other countries and they have become complacent. The US arms manufacturers need to be reminded who pays their bills.

When Trump said Europe should defend themselves, he probably didn’t consider the fact that it also means not buying US weapons. Domestic arms manufacturers must really love this development, lol.

It is incomprehensible that they are willingly throwing away the power that made them rich in the first place.

It really is kind of hilarious because Europe was bending over backwards to appease the US. Suddenly when the world is suddenly less dependant on the US their power and influence on future generations will die. They’re actively making themselves poorer…

The US defense industry will lose trillions over the coming decades because of Trump’s idiocy.

I’ve seen a number of analysts say the US weapons manufacturers are seeing a collapse of their foreign market sales and contracts.
Trump is pushing to increase the military budget from 850 billion to 1.5 trillion plus, close to doubling it.
How much of this is to save red state weapons manufacturers from their loss of export markets. Typical republicans being bailed out from their own policies they support, just like Farmers.

Trump, Putin and Xi Jinping have allegedly carved up the world, Trump gets north and South America, Putin gets Europe and Xi Jinping gets Asia.
The reality of the situation is Trump has made America look stupid and has burnt through pretty every bit of good will America has had, Putin is on day 1700 or so of a special 3 day military operation and Xi Jinping is playing it smart and not wanting China to become a singular superpower because in 50 or so years it won’t be, much like America is declining. He wants to work with the western world too some extent whilst maintaining China’s power and influence. Why bother invading Taiwan when it can be dominated politically and economically?

That’s good. European NATO nations will finally meet NATO requirements!

I don’t think they’ll be able to stop being dependent on the US. Like the article says, the process would take over a decade and over a trillion dollars. I don’t think European leaders are willing to make that commitment. They aren’t even willing to stop all trade with Russia, which is the bare minimum they need to do for their own security. Let’s face it, European leaders do not care about Europe’s security. They keep funding the enemy.
