With the agreement between the North Macedonian National Electricity Market Operator (MEMO) and the Slovenian Energy Exchange (BSP), the implementation of the Intraday Market has begun in North Macedonia, with completion planned for the end of the second quarter of 2026.

The agreement continues the cooperation with BSP and the European EPEX SPOT, an important step in the development of the Macedonian electricity exchange and strengthening its technical and institutional readiness for market integration with the European Union.

It provides trading and clearing platforms for the electricity markets – day-ahead and intraday. The day-ahead market in North Macedonia has been operating since May 2023, and the establishment of the intraday market is a logical continuation of the process of market completion.

“Our goal is clear – a functional, secure and European-harmonised electricity market. The market on the current day brings greater flexibility, better management of renewable sources and reduction of systemic risks,” said the Minister of Energy, Mining and Mineral Resources, Sanja Božinovska.
