The son of renowned Albanian journalist Artan Hoxha was arrested on Monday, January 19, in Tirana, under suspicion of involvement in organized crime, specifically human trafficking.
Geri Hoxha and another person were wanted by an international arrest warrant, at the request of UNMIK.
Regarding the case, Artan Hoxha spoke to Klankosova, saying that he is not yet informed about the specific accusations against his son.
He expressed concern about the allegations, noting that at the time the alleged crimes were committed, his son was only 13 years old.
“It’s been a few days since this happened, but I still haven’t seen any official documents or decisions. It’s strange how a child can be accused of participating in a structured criminal group. I’m afraid I’m being treated unfairly,” said Hoxha.
According to the Albanian journalist, authorities in Kosovo have made an extradition request, but so far no official file or documentation has been handed over to him.
“I was told that the documents will be forwarded to the Albanian authorities”, he added.
Hoxha also stated that at the time of the arrest, his son was on his way to work and that he works as a dental laboratory technician.
“”He only had 10 thousand lek in his pocket. An ambulance driver was also arrested with him. How can this be linked to organized crime?”, the journalist raised it as a question.
In the end, Hoxha also cast doubt on his son’s treatment, saying that he is not allowed even minimal contact and that he fears for his safety.
