Remind me of Jan Carey who burned US flag outside the White House.

Did Trump suggested this to Takaichi?

  2. I completely disagree with this sort of nonsense. While I would never condone damaging a country’s flag, it’s an expression of freedom of speech. As long as the flag belongs to the person damaging it, it needs to tolerated. You can’t legislate patriotism.

  3. Well, that’s one way to drum up more support from the nationalists, I guess?

It’ll certainly put a stop to the huge numbers of people burning and defacing the flag and making the news on a daily basis…. oh wait. There aren’t any.

She doesn’t really care about it.

This is actually a Sanseito point that she’s emulating so it dilutes their platform.

  5. I am not against protecting the sacred symbols of a country (the flag, shrines, etc.) but… really? Now? She gets elected a few months ago, she sets another election months later because they cannot get a coalition with other parties while the JP yields go up, real wages go down, rice has doubled in price the last year and… this is what they want to do?

I am sorry but it looks too much like a wink to the alt right in an attempt to gather attention and votes from parties like the Sanseito.

It’s probably a low hanging fruit law that even the opposition will vote in favor of, considering that at the moment the only flag you are allowed to damage in Japan right now is the Japanese flag, as foreign flags are protected by law.
She just wants to look like she’s getting some things done to deflect claims of her wasting time on the election

  7. Classic Trumpian move, make a huge deal over a nonissue. If you want Japan to turn out how America is today keep voting for people like Takaichi.

  8. It’s a bold strategy, adopting every single policy of your opponents after they’ve announced them. With her two hours of sleep, I imagine she’s too zoned out to have original thoughts.

  9. This dumb birch thinks she is in then USA and is directly running the MAGA hatebook. It’s already failing and ruining the economy in the short time it’s in place.

I’m glad they are scared and started backtracking, it’s too late to call off the election for them and I have high hopes they get kicked to the curb.

That dog whistle is going to get worn out very quickly at this rate.. I hope. Maybe the remnants of Zaibatsu and the back room boys have figure out a replacement already, as things are not looking good business wise.
