On 26 January 2026, the fourth round of political consultations at the level of Deputy Ministers was held in Bishkek between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Georgian delegation was headed by Deputy Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili, while the Kyrgyz side was led by Deputy Minister Meder Abakirov.

Within the framework of the consultations, the parties reviewed the existing partnership between Georgia and the Kyrgyz Republic, as well as cooperation in bilateral and multilateral formats. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of exchanging high-level visits.

Discussions also focused on cooperation in the areas of trade, economy and transit and logistics. The growing importance of the Middle Corridor in enhancing connectivity between Asia and Europe, as well as Georgia’s transit potential, was underscored.

Satisfaction was expressed with the steady increase in tourist flows from the Kyrgyz Republic to Georgia. In this context, the importance of establishing direct air links between Georgia and the Kyrgyz Republic was emphasized.

In addition, the parties discussed prospects for further strengthening the bilateral legal framework and addressed issues related to consular cooperation.

The Deputy Ministers also exchanged views on ongoing developments and the security environment in Central Asia and the South Caucasus region.

Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili briefed his Kyrgyz counterpart on the grave humanitarian situation in Georgia’s occupied territories and expressed gratitude for the Kyrgyz Republic’s firm support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

On 27 January, within the framework of his visit to the Kyrgyz Republic, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili held meetings with the Special Representative of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, Dinara Kemelova; the Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Mederbek Tumanov; and the President of the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Temir Sariyev. The meetings addressed prospects for deepening cooperation between Georgia and the Kyrgyz Republic in the areas of trade and economy, air transport, transport, and transit, and also discussed the convening of the second session of the Georgia-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
