Removing the US as World Cup host would be eminently sad – and entirely justified.

Okay but the reason why they can’t do it is the World Cup expanded teams from 32 -48. That’s too many teams for 1 country. Canada doesn’t have the infrastructure. Mexico could do 32 but 48 this late with the world
Cup starting this summer. It’s not gonna happen.

Mexico has worse public safety, Qatar held it, Russia held it. Both had far more strict policies for visitors. It’s the World Cup, North Korea and Iran have competed in it.

  3. If the US is not removed, then every match should be treated as a mass protest opportunity. Every live broadcast should have protests in the background when they do establishing shots. All the spectators should have to walk through a forest of protest signs.

The world should know that we are still resisting, and that there will always be opposition to Fascism in the United States.

  4. The FIFA president literally gave him a participation trophy. They aren’t moving anything

  5. FIFA is corrupt to the core. They contrived a peace prize to placate Trump. There’s no way in hell the World Cup will be moved.

  6. Why do people think this is ever going to happen?

    It’s not.

“Maybe” a better shot with the Olympics in 2028 if we keep this shit up. But Fifa does not give a shit and will keep things going as planned.

Honestly, I think it will be the most entertaining World Cup ever, like watching an explosion.

Note: I have no intrest in football at all and usually dont care about anything related to it.

  8. Germany becoming Nazi Germany didn’t stop the Olympics from being held there, and FIFA is more corrupt than even the IOC by orders of magnitude.

  9. They gave Trump a made-up prize to suck up to him. They don’t give a fuck about human rights or anything else. Only money.

  10. FlintheartGlomgold_ on

Well. At this point it’s best for everyone to just cancel their tickets, not go, not watch, and not give another fuck. If everyone did that, FIFA would loose so much money.

*A 2021 investigation by The Guardian found that at least 6,500 migrant workers died during the construction of World Cup venues and infrastructure in Qatar.*

A precedent was set at at least 6,500. Unless of course we are saying white American lives count for more?

I have tickets to a couple rounds, won a lottery to get the chance to buy them, partner and I grew up playing and partner played D1 in college. It’s a sport that we both deeply love. We’re selling our tickets.

Didn’t they host the last world cup in Qatar🤡? Didn’t they give a “peace prize” to Trump? Why are we pretending FIFA has any moral upper hand?

  14. The world is sick of Americas shit. Ditch that pedo nepo baby bitch Trump and his gang of Nazis.

  15. Queasy_Aide5481 on

I’d be surprised if they changed it.

‘The 1936 Summer Olympics were held in Berlin, Germany, from August 1 to 16, during the Nazi regime. These Games were used as a propaganda tool by Adolf Hitler to promote the ideals of the Nazi party while masking the regime’s discriminatory policies against Jews and other groups.’

  16. World Cup definitely should move the USA based games but guessing its probably too late now. Going to be a disaster for so many as ICE scoops tourists up to meet their quotas.

  17. Internal_Swing_2743 on

They should, but it won’t happen. Hundreds of basically slaves died to build the stadiums for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. FIFA doesn’t care about facists.

  18. whyamionhearagain on

I’m trying to say this as respectfully as possible but I was surprised it was being hosted in the USA to begin with. I keep being told that soccers growing in popularity but when they show the games on TV it’s like the WNBA. Soccer has grown here as far as the number of kids watching but I only know a handful of people who have ever attended a professional game. Most of the adults I know who do seem really into it are not original from the US. I’d highly advise anyone thinking of coming here for the games to reconsider. The USA is a shit show at the moment.

  19. Total_Reason4746 on

As an American, yes, it would be incredibly justified. The rest of the world needs to do everything it can to ensure that Trump’s fascist regime is a historical abortion. And a lot of people here are so dumb that they need to see it affect things they are interested in to be persuaded that fascism is bad.

  20. They have held the Cup in Russia and Qatar, and will be in Saudi Arabia in 2034. What makes you think FIFA cares?

  21. fake-name-here1 on

Well that would be a slap in the face to the totally legit soccer peace prize the president just won.

  22. perhaps uefa should move away from fifa? europe and other countries can start their own world cup?
