I know they sometimes like to roll out a bunch of inspectors during semester, but this afternoon at Gelnferrie station (4:50ish) there was a very noticable police/PSO presence. On both sides of the barriers, maybe 15 to 20 police and PSO's, plus at least 2 sniffer dogs. Looks like some people being interviewed, bags being searched etc.
Did something happen or maybe is this just a new thing now, the P.T. equivalent of a booze bus setup where they are checking people coming on and off P.T.?
Ive been commuting to Glenferrie weekly since 2018 and I've never seen anything like it.

You realise that instead of taking a bunch of photos from a distance and asking strangers online you can actually go up to all those people who are physically there and say ‘hey what is going on’ right?
Probably using the designated area search powers. They say they are searching for weapons, but it’s really just checking for anything they can find.
Edit: I’ve just looked up the [vicpol website for their designated search areas](https://www.police.vic.gov.au/public-notices) there does not seem to be one in effect for Glenferre. So no idea what the scum are up to.
I’m stuck on “what the toilet”? Or is it “what the shit”?
Do you not know WTF exists? You don’t need to swears but you do need to make sense when you skirt expletives, EXPLAIN YOURSELF OP. THIS IS UNAUSTRAYAN.
Searching Uni students for knives I guess.
It’s because Swinburne students are enemies of the state
They had to find something to do where there’s shade so the dog don’t burn it’s paws on hot asphalt?
Its a pack of pigs
you were there, so go and ask?
I was wondering the same thing! Saw people getting searched with their hands against the wall too. I asked a cop there and he said “just an operation”. Hmm.
A few more cops than usual at Flinders too. I asked the customer service guy announcing the trains and he said “oh yeah there was something going on there. I’m not sure what it is though”.
So… that’s all the info I can give you 🤷♂️
Must be happening overseas or something.
It’s a police operation.
I don’t get all the hateful comments here.
This is great to see, we need more of this as it brings confidence back to the commuters that travelling on the network is safe.
I wish I had the time to care

i was there and saw a man being taken to a police car in handcuffs! another police officer was carrying what i guess was his suitcase? wonder what happened!
Lost and trying to find the g-spot?
Drug sniffing dogs at stations eh?
More like NSW every day.
Nick Cave at Alexandra Gardens and perhaps Police are looking for those looking to supply non prescription medication?
They had the same setup at box hill station a few weeks back. Drug dogs, stopping people etc.
I work in that area and I immediately thought they were targeting all the weird Skins-esque Swinburne High kids lol
It started much earlier. I walked through the station as high school students were arriving just on 3:45. The Police were searching bags and doing body searches. Several people were against the walls with hands on their heads.
Sniffer dogs looking for drugs.
Pigs with sniffer dogs. Avoid.
Thought it was some jail first glance at the pic lol
Rocket park must have been popping off
Just police state things
Regular Glenferrie station behaviour
