Baylor School in Chattanooga has been chosen as the official FIFA World Cup base camp for the Spanish National Team and number one seed: La Furia Roja.

City administrators and the school formally announced the team’s plans on Friday, January 30. In English, their name translates to “The Red Fury.” They are commonly known as “La Roja,” or “The Red.”

This summer, the team will train at Baylor School’s state-of-the-art soccer complex and stay at Vision Hospitality Group properties.

The 2026 World Cup, which consists of over 100 matches, will take place throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico between Thursday, June 11 and Sunday, July 19.

The team or teams would spend six to eight weeks for team training at the Baylor School between June and July in 2026.

“It’s a great honor to not only host the world’s top-ranked team, but also continue to share Chattanooga’s love of soccer and signature hospitality on the global stage” Mayor Tim Kelly stated.

The partnership was made possible by the Chattanooga Host City Authority, the Chattanooga Tourism Co., the Sports & Events Corporation, and Hamilton County officials.

“This is an extraordinary opportunity for Baylor and for the Chattanooga community,” said Baylor Head of School Chris Angel. “Baylor has long embraced a global focus, and we are both honored and thrilled to be selected as a training site for such a prestigious international sporting event.
