PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. — Calvert County has appointed several new members to key groups and commissions in the county. These volunteer boards and commissions play a crucial role in advocating for specific issues within the county. 

The appointments are as follows: 

Michelle Redding was appointed to the Commission for Women, which is dedicated to developing opportunities for women, eliminating barriers that prevent them from realizing their full potential, and recognizing the contributions of women in the county. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. 

John Kaiser, Ray Shackelford and Laura Ragan were appointed to the Calvert County Ethics Commission. The commission promotes transparency and accountability in county government by providing ethical training and guidance to county employees, and reviewing financial disclosures, lobbying disclosure statements and activity reports.

Brad Ray was appointed to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. The PRAB advises the BOCC and Parks and Recreation Department on a wide range of issues, including planning and implementation of the Parks and Recreation section of the Comprehensive Plan, elements of the Land Preservation, Parks and Recreation Plan, and use and acquisition of park lands and facilities.

Emily Barson was appointed to the Board of Library Trustees, which is responsible for formulating and determining policies and procedures related to management, budgetary matters, personnel, and other areas essential to the effective operation of the library system. The board ensures the proper delivery of library and informational services for the benefit of the Calvert County community.

James Levin was reappointed and Richard Rapier was appointed to the Environmental Commission, which advises Calvert County government on environmental matters and performs public environmental education through community outreach.
