Green light from the Chamber to the DDL on lobbying: from the register to sanctions, what changes

Public register

The establishment, at the CNEL, of the public register for the transparency of lobbyists’ activities is envisaged. A single register which will also include those already existing in other institutions (in the Chamber – for example – there is the one created during the Fico presidency). Also at the CNEL, a Supervisory Committee is established which supervises registrations and imposes any sanctions ranging from fines to cancellation.

The ban for the convicted

In the register, lobbyists must enter on a weekly basis the list of meetings held, with an indication of the public decision maker met, the place where the meeting took place, the topic discussed and any other subjects participating in the meeting. Anyone who has been definitively convicted with sentences exceeding 2 years for crimes against the public administration cannot register in the register. After the approval of the law, Istat will have to integrate the list of Ateco codes with a specific one on representatives of interests.
