The Union Jack represents colonisation to a lot of people and is seen as a foreign symbol that shouldn’t exist on our flag. Sam Neil’s character in event horizon had an aboriginal flag in place because he felt the Union Jack would be removed in the future.
That said, it does look like wind had just had it wrapped around the pole

I’d be happy with our national flag being this. Just take the Union Jack and the Commonwealth Star off our current flag and be done with it.
Or the Australian Aboriginal Flag. Just accept the original background of this country.
I love the Eureka flag but it has gained a “reputation”.
