Arman Babajanyan, the chairman of the “For the Republic” party, wrote on his Facebook page:
“And so, on February 9, US Vice President J.D. Vance will visit Armenia. This visit should be marked by signed, time-bound, and practically implemented agreements.
Armenia’s national interest is unquestionable: to quickly transform American political support into a practical, measurable, and responsibly defined package: a real strengthening of defense capabilities (modern defense means, technologies, training, and joint programs), energy independence (new capacities, network modernization, investment tools), technology and capital (R&D, startup ecosystem, production investments), and regional communications with the inviolable principle of Armenia’s sovereignty.
We are obliged to prepare for this visit by the US Vice President with a clear agenda: what results we demand, the schedule, the tools, and who is specifically responsible for their implementation.
“If the US talks about security and partnership in the region, then Armenia should receive an adequate opportunity to acquire new defense capabilities. Our goal should be one: to turn the promise into a treaty, the treaty into an applicable tool, and the tool into a defensible Armenia, a working economy, and sustainable development with measurable, tangible results.”
