Officials at the science center in Hartford did not say which areas of the facility were affected by the damage.

HARTFORD, Conn. — The Connecticut Science Center in Hartford will be closed Sunday due to a burst pipe inside the building, officials there announced on Facebook Saturday night.

“Our team has been working tirelessly to clean and restore the affected areas, but unfortunately we will not be ready to reopen on Sunday,” the center said in the Facebook post.

While details about which areas of the facility were affected and the scope of damage were not immediately available, the science center is offering options for those who pre-purchased tickets for Sunday.

Tickets originally purchased for Sunday will be able to be used on a future date. Refunds are also available by contacting the center’s offices Monday.

While the cause of the burst pipe at the Connecticut Science Center has not been shared, other communities around Connecticut have been struggling with similar issues. Frigid temperatures have caused at least four water main breaks around the state in the past week, including those reported in Wethersfield and West Haven on Saturday night.
