    From Ukrainian citizen to German passport holder — today was the day.


    Today, February 1st, 2026, after five years of living here and passing all the required exams, I picked up my German passport.
    It’s been a long journey, and I’m very happy to finally reach this moment.

      after 10 years and working, i still cant get it. i have never been in jobcenter and i have C1, they reject my application, i guess every land has favor than other.

      Could you share the whole timeline process and what field do you work in and through which condition did you get it?

      Congrats! Do you need to have 60 payslips in that time period to qualify for it or just I’ve had false information?

      Congrats! One question: usually in 5 years you get eligible for citizenship, and then you apply. The application process adds 8+ months on top of it.

      So how did you get it in 5 years total?

      I am in Germany for 9 years already and I’m still waiting. I work all the time and did all exams. Have immobilien and pay taxes. What else should I do?

      Congrats! Glad to see you made it. This was my plan many years ago but I didn’t stick to it and now I’m regretting it 24/7 even when I’m asleep. Quests I should just go die there before they stop the war.
