Can confirm, my grandmother and grandfathers migrated to Sakarya (in Marmara region) Turkey. Some of their descendants still live there. They settled there in late 19th century.

In the film Lawrence of Arabia, the blue-eyed English protagonist tries to pass himself off as Arab (by dressing like a local) to fool the Ottoman administrators but his appearance gave him away. When being questioned by the Ottoman police chief (or whatever) he says to him, “You have blue eyes. Are you Circassian?” I had to look up who they were.

Circassians weren’t the majority in Abkhazia at the time, they became the majority after the genocides, Russians settled them in Abkhazia after Russians killed Muslim Georgians that lived there(and even then Georgians still remained a large major minority)

Edit: I misunderstood that they were some Christian group genocided by Ottomans. Found that they were Muslims who were genocided by the Russians.
If any genocide would be considered “successful” it would be this one. Something along the lines of more than 95% of the Circassian population were either killed or displaced, today most Circaccians don’t even reside in their native homeland most reside in Turkey and the rest of the Arab world with most of them being assimilated in their host countries and forgotten how to speak their language, although there have been growing movements to revive their heritage
