Ryanair confirms itself as the carrier with the highest volume of reported disruptions, but it should be considered that it is also the company with the highest number of flights operated in Italy.
Among the inconveniences that hit Italian passengers the most in 2025, cases related to lost baggage recorded a dramatic increase, marking +86% compared to 2024, and even +212% compared to 2023.
In 74% of cases it concerns luggage delivered late (18% damaged, 8% permanently lost). And on the front of disservices in Italy there is a sensational paradox: over 30% of passengers who would be entitled to compensation do not complete the process, giving up compensation which vary from 250 to 600 euros per passenger for cases of prolonged delay or cancellation of the flight – reveals RimborsoAlVolo.

The specialized press, with Guidaviaggi at the forefront, noted that during the summer only 68.5% of Italian flights arrived on timeagainst one European average of 72.4%. In practice, almost one in three flights experienced significant delays.
At the root of the disruptions of 2025 there were no single anomalies, but structural critical issues unresolved.
ENAC has certified that six Italian airports they have entered a “growth crisis”. President Pierluigi Di Palma spoke openly about flows higher than expected and increasingly complex management.
According to industry analyses, the system has suffered:
a chronic shortage of staffresulting in 19 strikes
undersized infrastructure compared to real traffic
technological vulnerabilitieswhich emerged with the radar blackout on June 28th
fleet problemswith up to 40 Wizz Air aircraft kept on the ground due to defects in the Pratt & Whitney engines of the A320neo
