Serbia’s newly built oil derivatives storage tanks in Smederevo began to be filled with the first quantities of Euro diesel on 30 January.
Four of the six new tanks were commissioned at the end of 2025, while the remaining two are expected to be commissioned by mid-February. Together, they have a total storage capacity of 96,000 tonnes of oil derivatives.
The first volumes arrived by ship, and filling started with 9,500 tonnes. By the end of the week, a total of 26,000 tonnes of Euro diesel had been delivered.
Over the past three years, Serbia has increased its mandatory reserves of oil derivatives from the equivalent of 33 days of average daily imports to 52 days, and plans to increase this by a further 15 days.
All reservoirs are state-owned, with two under the Energy Reserves Directorate of the Ministry of Energy and four managed by the Republic Directorate for Commodity Reserves.
