Good on them. Australia is the best country in the world to be trans in, we don’t have the medical support NA does but we are currently not as obsessed with the culture war stuff as the UK and North America. I also know people in various European countries and are just too many hurdles in a lot of them. Best of luck, Josie.

    Awesome!
As a late to the game trans person who used to go to TMOC shows, I’m stoked.

  3. legend, good on her.

not to get all sappy, but as a younger trans person myself (nonbinary to be specific), im chuffed that just existing as ‘me’ could help someone in the older generations live as themselves too. brings me a lot of joy to hear from people like Josie that the effort we make to make the world a better place isnt for nothing.

That was touching to read. While so many trans youth look to the older generation who helped pave the way for them, it’s lovely to see that coming back and helping those who had yet to experience their life as they wanted. I hope she gets to live many long and healthy years enjoying her life

  5. They’ve got at least one new listener. I’m really happy she’s chosen to be public about this, I know how difficult it will be.

Based on her loud comments about spit roasting female musicians 20 years younger than her I assume she is also at least bisexual.

Saw Mark of Cain live in Adelaide back in ’95, they were so intense and powerful, awesome band. I wish Josie and the rest of the band all the best

  8. I truly hope there is enough support for her and the rest of the band. Fuck the haters that are copying all the american culture wars and the JK Rowling crap… it is so full of ignorance. I wish them well. It’s not easy to come out as trans… especially if you are in the public eye.

  9. *Fuck* yes! Congrats, Josie!

Been listening to TMOC for god knows how many years now, so as a trans woman myself, this is really fucking cool to see.

  10. One of the best bands of the 90s, I saw them live many times. Ill At Ease, especially songs like Interloper, are totally recontextualised for me now. I’m so happy for Josie.
